New members!

The NCRA has two new members:

CHBB-FM, "the Voice of Bonne Bay" is in Norris Point, on the west coast of Newfoundland.

They just got licensed by the CRTC this past November but have had annual specialty broadcasts since 2007 for their local Trails, Tales and Tunes festival and the Community University Research for Recovery Alliance.

The station will be in the town's former Cottage Hospital building, a small but historically significant community service in Newfoundland that dates from before Newfoundland even joined Canada. And Gary Wilton, the chair of their Board, is starting to bring together everything they need to get on-air.

CKVI-FM, "The Cave" is in Kingston, Ontario. It was the first licensed high school radio station in Canada, broadcasting since September 1997.

The station is run by students who are part of the Radio Broadcasting county-wide focus program which is open to any Grade 11 and 12 students in their district's School Board.

You might have met some of their programmers at the Ontario regional conference. Fraser Rose is the faculty advisor/station manager -- he's already increased student participation and now has big plans to increase their signal....
